I now sleep well and have less worries after leaving that place. We lived there for 3 years and maintenance only addressed one issueâand didnât even fix it correctly. I basically had to act as Eliâs secretary, constantly texting and calling (which I hated) just to remind him to fix a leak.
We lived in apt 516 and our electric bill was always over $120/month, even when we were gone for weeks on vacation. We use about the same amount of electricity now and pay $60â80, so watch out. Valerie and Edwin were unprofessional and disorganized. They will NOT refund your deposit, unless you show proof and make them- keep copies of everything, as this will help you.
Their rent portal would randomly stop working, forcing us to pay with certified funds. Keeping receipts, again, saved us after they tried double-charging rent (there were others in line with the same issue). They also lost our application twice.
The worst part was the leaks and walls (& bathroom ceiling) literally falling apart, while maintenance gaslit me saying 40% humidity was ânormal.â Theyâd do âinspectionsâ, take notes, and never follow upânot even to change smoke detector batteries. You basically have to do maintenance yourself or chase them daily, which is a job itself, in addition to our jobs.
What finally pushed us out was a dead fox left on the property. I was told multiple times it would be handled, again working as their secretary, and it never was. Maintenance literally went to look at the fox and left. No follow-up and constant gaslighting saying theyâd fix everything and never following through.
I came to write this because I was told they increased rent to $1800 (we paid $1600 for 2 bed/2baths about a year ago). I know they have been cynical enough to increase rent in the past and literally do less. Please be careful and keep records of everything! If you can, prioritize your peace of mind and avoid this place.
I see people surprised by the lack of professionalism and disorganization - itâs been like this for years, and nothing ever improved. We applied for a 2 bedroom and were given a 3 bedroom- so we had to ask again for the 2 bedroom & were forced to pay 3-bed deposit haha. Insane, but they âcould notâ adjust the deposit amount since âwe choseâ a different unit. Theyâll never own their mistakes. Itâs a mess so trust the red flags.
Lastly, the only good thing there were our neighbors and friends. That was it.
